Spending time outside in nature is good for our wellbeing – it’s a chance for us to get active and gives us an opportunity to try things we wouldn’t normally get to try if we were indoors.
Forest School is a chance for young people to learn new skills and explore by spending time outside in a woodland. Young people will get a chance to have a go at lots of different, fun activities in the outdoors over a number of weeks. The activities can include:
• Safe fire building and campfire cooking
• Bushcraft skills and using hand tools
• Making shelters and woodland games
• Learning about woodland plants and animals
• Making environment art from clay and other natural materials
The sessions are fun, relaxed and based around what you, the young person, want to do. A qualified Forest School Leader from the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and staff from Alder Hey’s CAMHS team will be there to help you with activities and show you the site. The group will be small, with up to 10 young people taking part.
